How are FS-Elliott and Elliott Turbomachinery Different?

How are FS-Elliott and Elliott Turbomachinery Different?

Shared Roots, Separate Paths

The histories of Elliott Turbomachinery and FS Elliott begin in the same place but diverge across decades of innovation and corporate evolution.

The story starts in 1895, when William Swan Elliott patented a boiler tube cleaner that helped unlock the power of steam, a force that has influenced industrial progress for thousands of years. Four years later, in 1910, the Elliott Company was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before relocating to Jeannette, Pennsylvania, in 1914.

Over the next several decades, the Elliott Company grew in reputation and capability. Between 1957 and 1981, it operated as a division of Carrier Corporation, expanding into compression and turbomachinery technology on a global scale.

Elliott Turbomachinery Today

In 1981, Carrier was acquired by United Technologies Corporation (UTC), and this era marked the formal establishment of Elliott Turbomachinery, Inc. Later, Elliott entered a long standing relationship with Ebara Corporation, beginning in 1968 when Ebara licensed technology to build Elliott turbines. That partnership led to Elliott becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Ebara in 2000.

Today, Elliott Turbomachinery continues to operate under the Elliott Company banner, focusing on high performance turbomachinery solutions, including steam turbines, gas turbines, and related equipment for power generation and industrial markets.

The Beginning of FS-Elliott

While Elliott Turbomachinery was evolving this way, a separate opportunity was unfolding in the air compressor market.

In the late 1990s, Elliott Company partnered with Fusheng Industrial Co., Ltd., working together to build a manufacturing and packaging facility in Shanghai, China. The partnership gave rise to the PAP Plus product line, which quickly became a market leader in China for centrifugal air compression.

In 2003, Fusheng acquired the PAP Plus product line and established a new company: FS Elliott.

Two years later, in 2005, FS Elliott established its U.S. headquarters in Export, Pennsylvania, to consolidate design, manufacturing, and service capabilities. Since then, FS Elliott has designed and placed over 10,000 compressors globally, building a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer focused air compression solutions.

Two Companies, Distinct Missions

Although FS Elliott originated from technology once associated with Elliott Turbomachinery, today the two companies are separate entities with different ownership and focus areas.

Importantly, the PAP product line is fully supported exclusively by FS Elliott. If you need support for PAP or other FS Elliott compressor products, FS Elliott and its authorized channel partners are your direct resource.
